Our wonderful workshops will inspire you and teach you how to make the most magnificent holiday presents ever! By starting now, you'll get a jump on your gift list and be able to better manage your time and resources.

"Adult/Child Learn to Crochet"

Have you wanted to learn crochet? Summer is the perfect time to do just that. This two week workshop will cover the basics including chaining, working in the back loop, skipping stitches, edging a project and finishing off. You'll have a basic dishcloth to show off your new skills! Adults and children 10 and over are welcome (with or without a parent). Space is limited so call and reserve your spot today!

Dates: Tuesdays, June 17 and 24
Time: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Cost: $25.00 plus materials

Materials: one 50 gram skein 100 % cotton worsted weight yarn, Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook

"Felting First"

Learn the basics of machine washed knitted felt in this fun, easy workshop. A great project for beginners or anyone who wants to make their first felted project. Need some extra pizzazz? Join our needle felting class on July 9 and learn to embellish your project.

Dates: Wednesdays, June 18 and 25
Time: 6:30-8:30
Cost: $30.00


"Easy Crochet"

Learn an assortment of crochet pattern stitches in this workshop. Take your skills to the next level by building on the basics. You'll learn new stitches by crocheting squares that you may join together to create an afghan, lap robe or wrap. A decorative edge stitch will also be taught. This workshop is for the advanced beginner as well as the experienced crocheter. There's something for everyone to learn!

Dates: July 8, 15, 22 and 29
Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Cost: $52.00 plus materials

Materials: worsted weight yarn (quantity will depend on what you decide to make) such as “Amity”, “Comfort”, “Pure Merino”, “Bazic”. Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook. Darning needle.

"Sockitecture"

Knit socks using Cat Bordhi's unique and innovative approach. Jane will teach you to knit socks as Cat has outlined in her book so that you may knit customized socks to fit any foot from infant to large adult. How cool is that? Give us a call and register today!

"Learn to Needle Felt"

Learn how to add this easy embellishment to any project! Make your own felted bag and bring it in to needle felt on or buy one of our already felted basic bags. This is a great way to make any project your own. Simple and quick!

Materials: 1 prefelted bag, felting needle, wool roving



"Teen Knit Nights"

Enjoy the summer evenings with us. If you have been knitting for a while or if you have never picked up needles and yarn, come knit with Miss Beth. Learn to make cool belts, hats or leg warmers! We will teach you the basics or take you on to the next step. Think about this parents- drop of your knitter and take some time to have a great dinner in downtown Berkley while you wait.

For ages: 11-18
Dates: Thursdays, July 10, 17 and 24

Materials: check with store staff to pick out the appropriate supplies for your project


"Loopy Seussy"

Oh the stitches you'll know! This adorable drawstring bag can be used as a purse, project bag, a kid's pajama bag, car trip activities bag...the options are endless. The 3-color wool bag teaches increasing/decreasing, carrying yarn for color change, shaping, drawstring holes, I-cord bind off, single crochet chain and I-cord handles. Whew! Felting tips will also be shared.

Dates: Saturdays, July 12 and 26
Time: 2:00-4:00pm
Cost: $30.00 plus materials

Pattern: Loopy Seussy from Kalamazoo Knits
Yarn: Lopi - 3 skeins for main color, 2 skeins contrasting color #1, 1 skein contrasting color #2
Needles: US #13-24" circular, US #13-12" circular (set of #13 double points would work), US #11 double points
Notions: tapestry needle, tape measure, 10 stitch markers (1 needs to be a contrasting color), crochet hook J, K or L (J is used for small loops)


"Dabbling in Design with Lori Sheffield"

This 6-week course will teach you to design your own sweaters. We'll begin with taking measurements and gauges. Discussions each week will focus on body styles, necklines, drape, how to tell what the perfect gauge is and designing. Each person receives a booklet with all the formulas they need to design drop shoulder, modified drop shoulder, raglan or set-in sleeve sweaters. We'll discuss pattern placement, pattern effect on gauge, necklines, adjusting patterns and many more questions and concerns as they arise. In just six weeks you'll find that you don't need to be a math whiz or an experienced knitter to begin designing your own garments.

Dates: Saturdays, July 12, 19, 26 and August 2, 9 and 16
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Cost: $85.00 plus $10 materials fee at first class

Yarn: knitter's choice
Needles: Something that works with your yarn selection and one set 4-6 sizes smaller than your gauge needle and one set that's 4-6 sizes larger
Notions: tape measure, calculator, pencil, paper for notes, colored pens are sometimes helpful but not required
Homework: Knit a swatch on a needle appropriate for your yarn. Swatch should be 20 stitches and 4" long in stockinette stitch.

"Learn to Knit"

"Ruffle Scarf"

What a beautiful way to learn the short row technique! Join Beth and watch the ruffles appear as you knit this stylish accessory just in time for the brisk days of fall and winter. You must know how to cast on, knit and bind off.

Dates: Wednesday, July 16
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Cost: $20.00 including pattern

Materials: Approximately 200 yards of DK weight yarn and appropriate sized needles. We use 2 skeins of 'Ritratto' for our shop model. Whatever yarn you choose, it must be purchased here at the shop.
